At AMS Counseling Services, LLC, we provide biopsychosocial assessments, psychoeducation, psychotherapy and mediation services.

We work with individuals experiencing life stress, relational/familial difficulties, co-dependency, co-occurring disorders, mental illness, chemical dependency, behavioral issues, and chronic disease.

We also work first responders, survivors of domestic violence and trauma.

Meet The Team

Angela M. Smith, MSW, LISW-S, LICDC, CFRC

Owner and Therapist

Angela brings over twenty years of experience working both inpatient and outpatient with various clients from mental health to chemical dependency. She works with individuals from preadolescents to adults. Her educational history as well as specialized training provides her the opportunity to work with first responders, individuals with substance use disorders and women's issues.

Angela is passionate about empowering her clients to grow and change.

Joe Chadwick, MSW, LSW, LCDC II

Therapist

Joe has nearly twenty-year experience working with individuals and groups, both in and out of the chemical dependency field. His specialty is working with young adult males beginning at the age of ten as well as adults of all ages.

Joe has coached youth and high school sports for ten plus years experiencing first-hand the importance of developing confidence and motivation to help individuals overcome challenges, make positive choices and re-establish healthy mindsets.

Tonya Robinson

Office Manager

Tonya has been with the practice for seven years.

She is the first voice you hear and the first face you see when you come to AMS Counseling Services, LLC. Tonya manages all aspects of the office including scheduling and billing.

Outside of the office Tonya loves spending time with her family especially outdoors.

Jacie L. Steinheiser, MSSA, LISW, LICDC

Therapist

Welcome our newest member to AMS Counseling Services, LLC. Jacie brings over 25 years of experience working with individuals and groups in all aspects of mental health, substance use disorders and the criminal justice system. She has worked with all age groups, but has a special fondness for teenagers and young adults. She enjoys educating and encouraging her clients to overcome depression and anxieties to go and live their best lives. In her free time, she loves being out of doors and spending time with her grandchildren and fur babies.

Our Story

After ten years of serving the Madison community Marie deHass, of deHaas Family Counseling, graciously bestowed the honor of transitioning the office into the care of Angela Smith after making the decision to retire in 2024. Angela joined deHaas Family Counseling in 2021 brining with her over twenty years of experience in direct care. As a Madison native, Angela longed to transition into private practice in order to promote client growth, change and empowerment by fostering authentic therapeutic relationships within her local community.

Under Angela's direction, AMS Counseling Services, LLC, will continue to provide the quality of care clients have come to expect from deHaas Family Counseling.
